About Scottie

I mostly work with trans and polyamorous folks who are wanting to grow and improve their lives.
You are good, and I believe that fear often clouds one’s goodness. So often blocks to wellness can be found in the parts of ourselves that we believe we must hide, shame, or disregard. Through shadow work and exploring the narratives that we live by, I work with my client's to reclaim their power and find wholeness.

Often, I focus on strengths-based interventions, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral interventions informed by feminist thought and queer theory. As a feminist theorist, I acknowledge the impact of systemic oppression and patriarchal values and how systems of oppression impact everyone who exists within them. Central to the therapeutic process, I value unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and empathy. In order for a person to heal, they must first be heard and seen, and as such, active listening and creating space for expression is very important to me. Questioning previous narratives is also central to my therapeutic orientation, as I seek to help folks develop narratives that are more adaptive and helpful to living well. I hope to become a certified sex therapist to further help clients empower themselves to find what brings them pleasure and euphoria.

I hope to facilitate your journey towards self-knowledge; to hold up a mirror so that you can see yourself more clearly, and to connect with yourself again. I focus on strengths and changing thought patterns to facilitate this growth. I believe that culture and the way a person is raised are important factors to explore.

I will challenge you to welcome all parts of yourself to the therapeutic process and to advocate for yourself to be seen and validated. You are good, and I hope that you will explore some of that goodness with me. Thank you for trusting me as you enter this process. Courage is found in the willingness to start the process of healing, and it is a process.
