About Audrey
As your therapist, I strive to build a relationship with you that is non-judgmental and empowering. I hope that, by listening, validating, and staying curious, I can help you get in touch with the values that motivate you to make changes in your life.
I believe that we cannot begin a conversation about change without examining our environment and how it impacts us. Problems do not reside solely within us. In my clinical approach, I will ask us to explore the ways in which our identities and mental wellbeing are impacted by the oppressive systems of racism, classism, homophobia, and sexism. I offer opportunities to acknowledge and talk openly about these systems and their effects. I use techniques from Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help you see yourself as an agent of change who has the power to create your own narrative. Holding two seemingly opposite truths at the same time is difficult, and I believe that it is necessary to help us become empowered to live the lives we want to live. When we find ourselves stuck, or wondering where to go in the work, I will ask us to come back to your values as a guide. I use expressive interventions such as sand tray therapy and art therapy interventions (drawing, painting), and love making space for fellow creatives to voice their desires and fears.
I take a direct yet supportive approach in my work with individuals. I believe that we all have the power to create positive change in our lives. I ask that if you wish to engage in therapy with me, you come ready to do the hard work of examining your life, bringing the courage to imagine and explore new ways of being.
