About Arnab
If there is any part of your story you need closure on, any missing piece of the puzzle - I can help. The clients/patients who see me might have received a diagnosis that never fully captured what was really happening; they were placed on medications perhaps without a full understanding of the deeper emotional nature of the issue, or have been treated as though trauma, addiction, ADHD, bipolarity, personality patterns, neurodivergence, and relationship distress all exist in separate boxes. My work is to see the emotional and personality architecture more precisely and efficiently - to identify what has been missed, what has been mislabeled, and what is actually driving the suffering. I do more than prescribe medication. Listening and understanding are paramount, but I also help my clients/patients focus on real-life practical solutions, such as finding that job, finding that relationship, overcoming that obstacle.
I provide nuanced medication management, psychotherapy, couples therapy, and addiction treatment (Drug addiction, Behavioral Addiction & Dependence to prescribed medications), with careful attention to the psychodynamics of medication management: why a person developed certain symptoms, why particular medication patterns emerged, and how the psychology and biology of the case shape each other.
I provide psychodynamic psychotherapy, which explores the conscious and unconscious mind and helps uncover your blind spots. CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy, is a goal-oriented therapy that still explores deeper unconscious impediments. DBT: dialectical behavioral therapy, which helps with characterological personality traits. Motivational interviewing, which is a therapy for drug, prescribed medication addiction, and behavioral addiction. I provide couples therapy as well, drawing on the lessons of the Gottman Institute and the Ackerman Institute, as well as modern relationship styles of Esther Perel. I provide customized meditations and EMDR to treat trauma and to deepen the psychotherapeutic experience. I provide psychedelic education as well.
I also work with people whose lives do not fit simplistic models of treatment or relationship life. That includes individuals and couples in both traditional and non-traditional relationships, as well as patients whose emotional, sexual, and relational lives require a more nuanced understanding than they have found elsewhere. In addition to my private practice in Chicago, I serve as Medical Director of an LGBTQ+ clinic in NYC. I am a board-certified psychiatrist and board-certified addiction psychiatrist, completed all of my training in New York City, and went on to complete 2 fellowships in addiction psychiatry, where psychotherapy was heavily taught. My Chicago practice begins with a Discovery Call, so you can speak with me directly about what is bringing you in and whether this way of working is the right fit.
