Mindfulness is a practice of bringing one’s attention to the present moment with curiosity, openness, and acceptance. As people who do not always fit societal norms, we receive messages that tell us that our bodies, minds, and spirits are not welcome. These painful messages can lead to intrusive thoughts and disconnection from the body. At Queer Mindfulness, we can choose to reconnect with the present moment and learn from others who share our experiences.
This open, drop-in group is tailored to the queer community and allies are respectfully asked not to attend for there to be a container of shared experience. This is not a psychotherapy group but an opportunity to practice mindfulness in a supportive queer space using facilitated mindfulness meditations.
This group meets weekly online Tuesdays from 6-7pm and is facilitated by Antonia Jurkovic, Psy.D., a psychotherapist at LifeWorks Psychotherapy Center. If you have questions, you may contact Dr. Jurkovic at: firstname.lastname@example.org
A fee of $20 per person is requested. We know that this may be difficult for some. We encourage each of you to contribute what feels fair. Please do not let money be an obstacle to your participation. Feel free to speak with us if you have questions or concerns.
